Chip Plante

(Pitching, Hitting, Catching and Fielding Instructor)

Director of Baseball Operations

Chip Plante has over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels.  A native of Webster, MA, Plante played collegiately at Bates College (Lewiston, ME) for legendary coach Chick Leahey, where he was the Bobcat’s closer during his tenure there.  He is still in the Bates record book as the all-time leader for career relief appearances.  He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Bates while finishing his undergraduate education.

After leaving Bates, Plante coached for several years at Worcester State College (Worcester, MA) before resigning his head coaching position to take an assistant coaching position at Princeton University (Princeton, NJ).  Plante left Princeton and the northeast in 1993 to join the staff at Georgia College (Milledgeville, GA).

While at Georgia College, Plante served as the team’s pitching coach and recruiting co-ordinator, while also working with the hitters and outfielders.  The 1995 Georgia College squad finished the season ranked #2 in the nation after losing to Florida Southern in the NCAA Div II World Series Championship Game.

In 1996, Plante left Georgia College to take a similar position at Brewton-Parker College (Mt. Vernon, GA).  In addition to serving as the Baron’s pitching coach, Plante also worked with the hitters and infielders.  The 1997 Brewton-Parker team went 64-7 en route to winning the NAIA National Championship.

Plante has coached a number of players who have received All-American honors and has had over twenty-five former players sign professional contracts.

Plante resides in Scott, Georgia, where he owns Whistlin Dixie Baseball, a baseball consulting and player development company.
