Mocerino graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 2000, where he posted an incredible .486 4-year career batting average. Mike holds the all-time school career hits record with an amazing 141 hits. Some of Mike's accomplishments from his high school career include being a member of the Telegram & Gazette All-Star Team, being MVP of the Mid-Wach B Division and playing in the Massachusetts vs Connecticut All-Star Game.
Mocerino played for the Westboro / Northboro American Legion baseball team from 1996-2000. As a result of his stellar high school and legion careers, Mike earned a scholarship to play at the University of Connecticut, where he was a pitcher and infielder.
Mocerino's career ERA at UConn was a minuscule 2.97 and he is in the top 30 all-time at the school in games played and triples. At UConn, Mike played with and against many current major league players for soon-to-be Hall of Fame coach Andy Baylock.
While in college he played in the New England College Baseball League (NECBL) for the Eastern Tides. Mike was an Eastern Division All-Star as a 2nd Baseman and was the Tides' Homerun Derby representative.
After graduating from college in 2004, Mocerino served as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Assumption College, followed by a stint at Bryant University as an assistant coach. Mike is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach for his former high school, Algonquin Regional, and is the manager of the Northboro / Southboro American Legion baseball team.
As the Co-Director of AAU Operations, Mocerino oversees all Warrior team rosters and coaches, tryouts and scheduling. Mocerino also assists Director of Baseball Operations Chip Plante in player and team development.
Mocerino lives in Worcester with his wife, Elise, and daughter, Isabella. He is a teacher at Algonquin Regional and is the owner of Mocerino Baseball Development and Consulting, LLC. |
